The Smile Emporium School Brushing Program
What an experience it has been over the last couple of months! Our Oral hygiene team, Lillian and Ntombi and Dr Taskeen Chohan have had the pleasure of closely interacting with group of 4 year olds at Mes Amis Manna play school.
The idea behind the brushing program is to instill good brushing habits from a young age. This is a very hands on project, as we demonstrate to the children and physically help them brush with the aid of a toothbrush and a mirror.
The program started off by teaching the children a song and every week we discussed a new topic like mouthwash, toothpaste and good eating habits. Brushing habits were reinforced at each visit and an interactive lesson took place.
We ended off on a high note as the children were invited to our practice to ride on the chair, have a look at their mouths and a quick polish. We were so surprised! NOT one tear was shed. They had grown very accustomed to us looking in their mouths and loved being in the spotlight.
Thank you Mes Amis Manna play school for the opportunity to be able to give back to the community.
If you would like us to come to your school and offer the brushing program, please get in touch with us by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
